Integrated Current Feedback Amplifier with 2 x 80W / 4 ohm rms
Instead of employing conventional voltage-based feedback in the power amp section, the PM7005 features current feedback, a Marantz innovation that delivers superb fidelity and lowest distortion. The amp section consists of all discrete circuitry (no op-amps), and features high current discrete power output devices that provide high instantaneous peak current capability, and the PM7005 is rated at 60 watts per channel into 8 ohm loads and 80 watts per channel into 4 ohm loads.
Selected High Quality Audio Components
The volume amplifier circuit features all-discrete circuit components (no op-amps in the signal path) for the purest sound quality, lowest distortion and widest frequency response.
Marantz Proprietary HDAM-SA3 Cicruits
The PM7005 features our latest HDAM-SA3 (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) components, which consist of matched precision discrete selected circuit elements on a compact sub-board, instead of conventional op-amp integrated circuits. HDAM modules are used in the phono amp/equalizer block, the digital audio block and in the power amplifier block.
The latest generation Marantz HDAM-SA3 modules provide a full 10 dB of signal-to-noise improvement over earlier HDAM versions, along with ultra wide-band response (100 kHz, -3 dB) for crystal clear treble detail.
Advanced Digital-to-Analog Conversion
For optimum decoding of high resolution audio tracks, the PM7005 features the reference-class CS4398 D/A converter, which is also found on Marantz reference disc players and amplifiers. The PM7005 can accept a broad range of digital audio sampling frequencies and bit depths, all the way up to 24 bits and 192 kHz sampling.
Marantz Original Gold-plated Solid Brass Speaker Terminals SPKT-1
Marantz Original Gold-plated Solid Brass Speaker Terminals SPKT-1 deliver the highest quality sound transfer.
Phono Equalizer (MM)
There are multiple analog inputs, including a MM phono input, along with dual recording inputs and outputs, and the Source Direct function bypasses the balance and tone controls for the shortest signal path, while the Analog mode disables the digital circuitry when listening to analog sources.

I bought this Marantz Integrated Amplifier to replace an Emotiva A-100 and what a difference in sound quality! The DAC section and Amp modules is the same used in Marantz's Reference line so this PM7005 at $699? That's a deal! I haven't heard any of Marantz's Reference amplifiers in person but is the sound quality five times better with the same DAC section and Amp modules? I doubt it. The PM7005 is a great deal!
This is a wonderful amplifier. Built in Japan. 3-year Marantz warranty. It replaces a high end Harman Kardon HK3490 and is a clear upgrade. Just starting our lives together -- but have enjoyed the amp using audio cds ("Best of Philadelphia International Records - The Sound of Philadelphia") and Internet radio (Classic FM from London and Martini in the Morning stations) as program sources using analog inputs. I've also got a blu-tooth receiver that I can hook in to stream music from my computer or iPhone -- will get to that soon. The sky is the limit when it comes to prices for audio gear -- but I don't see any reason to go higher than this unit. The Marantz is powering a pair of Klipsch Chorus II speakers. Count me happy. I love music.
Wonderful sound. good looks, Japanese quality, plenty of power. Now for the negatives. Lacks subwoofer output and A/B speaker capability. To use a subwoofer you must buy a unit that has high level inputs and outputs, limiting your sub woofer choices. You can only use one set of speakers. Still a good amp.
It doesnt have subwoofer out. With a modest power it will probably be use with a bookshelf speaker. It would have been better if you have the option to connect a subwoofer since most subs now dont have high level inputs.
It's pretty good. It's great for the money. It's not in the realm of High End, but it will serve most casual listening situations very well. I eventually replaced this with a Luxman integrated amp, and the Lux *is* High End and sounds far better, but at 5X the cost. So this is a very nice good value amp. Well worth the money, I'd say.
I bought this amp to replace a 30-year-old Carver power amp that finally gave up the ghost, and as long as I was at it this amp also replaced the separate Carver pre-amp that went with the power amp. This Marantz amp works great and is just as advertised. My previous equipment did not have any remote controls, so I'm getting used to having one now. I use the amp mostly to send my TV audio to my stereo speakers- Klipsch Cornwalls dating back to the 1970s, when speakers had real woofers (15" in this case). I might have wished for another line-level input on the amp, but I knew what it had going in so I'll live with it. I'm glad to have a piece of equipment from this venerable company after all these years. I remember from my college days in the 60s Marantz was THE name in high-class stereo. Anyway, I'm quite happy with this purchase and have no reason to downgrade from a 5-star rating. It just works.

Very well made, and very good sound. It does male and female singing voices beautifully. It didn't have the liveliness of my Onkyo A-9010, so I returned it for refund. Don't get me wrong, it was a fine sounding int/amp, but I liked the sound of my Onkyo better. I imagine a lot of people might prefer the Marantz, because it does voice, singing and talking fantastically. If you like listening to singers like Johnny Matthis, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Barbara Streisand, etc, you will probably be impressed on how this Marantz delivers in that respect. My Onkyo does voice almost as good, and it has a very lively, fun presentation that I really enjoy.
Not much to add regarding the technical specs already covered. They are now available on the Marantz North America sites as well as the software for your pc and manuals. I've been using this now since Dec 2014 and for 'only' 60w /channel (at 8ohms) it is very powerful. I'm using the 7005 with an older denon CD player, "Sonos connect" for streaming music / music library (another awesome device) driving Totem Sttaf speakers and just in love again with listening to music on a weekend afternoon.
Very simple setup and operation. No bluetooth, wifi , network or dhcp settings etc. Just a great amp to get the job done with your favourite tunes.
EDIT: one important thing to note, this unit will not bi-wire despite some site reviews / marketing claims. It does not have A and B speaker output - only A. Some people seem to be just copy incorrect specs from other sites and paste in their review. No bi-wire.
