- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2016I was nervous buying a suitcase record player. This one however had a video on the reviews and great reviews with many to back them up. I received it quickly through the mail, and I am very satisfied listening to records every night and morning, simply adding speakers also adds quality. For a beginner to vinyl it has been perfect, even my boyfriend a musical perfectionist when it comes to this stuff can't complain, he helped with my price range and the vintage look I wanted. This has great sound without having to purchase speakers and the included speakers are loud enough to be concerned with turning down at night, with living in a house. And with adding the speakers the quality gets better. If your looking for bass in vinyl playing this won't be your player. It does play the bass but if that's exclusively what you want then you would need a stronger sub woofer in your turntable player. This one I can still listen to records with bass and be perfectly fine with it, I understand this is a good quality start up vintage turntable. Not a collectors. but still does justice just isn't what you would be used to if you had a 300 400 dollar player and switched. But I have yet to use the speakers with an actual R L hook up and only auxilary and it's still been very enjoyable. It's just so fun to relax and just listen to some records. I would recommend this to a friend and am considering getting one for my Mom, she loves Pink Floyd. So I am very satisfied. Just be careful when mine came in shipped , a screw had been undone but I put it back on and all was done and sound quality just fine. I am in love with this turntable, listening to it relaxes me and also it's fun to photograph the records. just follow directions and use it how it is directed, it is a wonderful player with a vintage look.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2016I do think this was mislabeled as a "turntable." Back in the day, I thought of a "turntable" as a piece of a stereo sound system with a clear, softly- closing lid that completely covered the record you were playing and that you hooked up to your amp and speakers; this would have been a "record player." But the true nature of this product is obvious from the picture, so I wasn't expecting a "turntable." Compared to my early 1970's-era record player, it fares quite well. It does have a gentle-drop lever so you can softly drop the needling into the right place. The sound quality and volume are very good for one of these gizmos. Nice carrying case. I figured out how to use it without looking at the directions. Overall, I had a joyful experience sharing my old records with my kids, who loved working it.
What I did not expect it to do: I did not expect it to connect to a high-quality sound system, I did not expect it to contain speakers like my little Bose guys (think about it - although those little Bose are small for speakers, they would not fit inside this thing along with the turning mechanism and motor), I did not expect it to withstand jumping nearby without skipping, I did not expect it to produce sound volume to power a party, and I did not expect it to play warped or scratched records. If I wanted a turntable so I could play new records and hook up to good speakers, maybe for a party, I would: expect to spend quite a bit more money than this, get something with a clear lid that covers the record as it plays, and never, ever get something with built-in speakers
I also think there is something you have to expect in exchange for the true sound of this type of recording. From a CD or iPod, you hear a pure and sanitized sound, without crackles. The needle of a record player is so sensitive that you inevitably hear some crackles, but in exchange for having to "put up" with those, you get the full sound, not a digitized version. For me, the initial crackles at the very beginning were conditioned from a very young age to be akin to the aroma of cookies in the oven - my auditory mouth would water in anticipation of the coming sound. For someone born in 1990, you lost that opportunity for conditioning, but if you think of it as normal and just a price you pay, maybe you can put up with it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2017Okay, guys… I encourage anyone who ordered this product to read this, ESPECIALLY if your turntable isn't spinning. I was SUPER excited about this thing arriving today. The minute I got home, I tore open the box and started assembling, which was SUPER easy. It took me about five minutes to get everything together. Then, I tested it out, very aware of all the negative comments I read before purchasing. But whatever, I had a gift card. It started playing, whilst I began to giggle cause I was so excited. Once the vocal came in, it sounded high-pitched and weird, so I figured I should turn down the speed (even though it was at the lowest speed). I moved the needle over, and the turntable stops spinning (as expected). Then, I try to start it up again, moving the needle over the vinyl. Turntable doesn't spin. Just this humming noise like it's trying to turn but nothing is happening. Long story short, I'm trying to get this thing to spin for twenty minutes. Turning it off and on again. Changing the speeds. Pushing buttons I shouldn't have been pushing. Shaking it. Beating lightly on the turntable. Nothing worked. So, because I'm motivated when I want to be, I took to the internet, where I learned about something called a "belt," which essentially makes the table turn because it's connected to the engine thingy. I'm not high tech. Just your average 24-year-old woman who knows nothing about this sort of stuff. Anyway… after about fifteen minutes, I had the entire thing apart. All the screws in a little pile so I wouldn't lose them and the whole contraption in pieces and parts laid out in front of me. I found the belt and I'm reaching my fingers up under the table to try and figure out where it's supposed to go (that's what she said?). When I think I've got it figured out, I test it out by turning on the power and nothing. No luck. But I'm still determined. I look at Youtube videos and images of where a turntable belt is supposed to go. I eventually realize that the belt has to wrap around the pulley and then from there wrap around the inside ridge of the underside of the turntable. So I've finally got that done and it looks about right, as well as I can tell anyway cause I really can't see much. (You're gonna need a flashlight.) So I screw everything back in place, say a little prayer, put the vinyl back on the turntable, turn the thing on, and move the needle over. BOOM! IT SPINS! AND not only that, the vocals sound clear and normal. So I'm guessing whoever or whatever assembled this thing put the belt on wrong. When I finally got ahold of the belt, it was all twisted around the centerpiece. Pliers worked pretty well to free it. Anyway… if your turntable isn't spinning, don't return it necessarily. If you have an hour, you can fix it yourself. I'm listening to the XX now on my new toy and honestly, I think I like this thing better because I BASICALLY put it together myself, Sorta sentimental now. :) Anyway, good luck! I don't usually post reviews but I just had to saying something cause 1) I'm really proud of myself and 2) I had read so many comments about turntables not spinning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this record player!
Love this record player! We had a bulky one prior and this one is so much better. Wish the plug came out the back instead of the side to hide it better but no big deal. The sound is really good, I only notice issues when it’s cranked to its fullest but I would never need it that loud anyway! Even at a medium to high volume you can hear it throughout each room in the house. The colour is gorgeous and I’ve received many compliments on it, both about the way it looks and sounds! The fact that it’s a suitcase is just awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars Arrived quickly, works amazingly but package came damaged.
This was my first record player and I couldn't be more delighted. The sound, though not perfect is still pretty good and captures that vintage sound that vinyl records make. Its beautiful and good quality. My package arrived two days after I ordered it through free standard shipping.
HOWEVER
When my package arrived, the box was damaged and the seal was broken. Thankfully, the player itself was not damaged. The player had also been left out in the cold by the delivery company. The sound was distorted and strange until it warmed up.
Overall:
I highly recommend this to teens and first timers. Worth every penny. I hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter loves her player!
What a cute player. Bought for my 6yr old daughter for Christmas. She loves it and carried it around to all our holiday visiting and played it for everyone. Has good sound, colour is cute and working perfectly so far. Additional port for head phones or RCA outputs for extra speakers are convenient.
She is very proud of her player and I couldn't be happier to introduce her to the best classic albums out there.
